Ercol Model 382 plank dining table with its matching Model 265 end table extension

This Ercol Model 382 plank dining table is paired with its matching Model 265 end table extension. Both have solid elm tops and splayed beech legs. The separate extension fits against the end of the dining table and can also be used independently as a side or writing table. We collected both pieces in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, and refurbished them at our North Derbyshire workshop. Sold through Design Market, they were delivered to their new home in Maisons-Laffitte, France.

Ercol Model 461 Green Dot stacking chairs, with one chair in front of two stacks

These 1960s Ercol Model 461 Green Dot Windsor Stacking Chairs are the largest size in the range. They have shaped solid elm seats, beech frames and curved back rails, and stack vertically. We collected the set in Montrose, Angus, and refurbished it at our North Derbyshire workshop. The chairs were sold by Retro Cactus Furniture and delivered by us to their new home in Brighton, East Sussex.

Ercol 376 Windsor Latticed Dining Chairs

These 1960s Ercol Model 376 Windsor Latticed dining chairs were collected in Guiseley, West Yorkshire. The crossed back spindles give this design its distinctive appearance, with curved beech top rails above shaped elm seats. The photographs show the varied grain across the seats and the chairs from the front, side and rear. The chairs were refinished at our North Derbyshire workshop, bringing out the natural colour and grain of the elm and beech. They were sold through Hunt Vintage and delivered by Retro Cactus Furniture to their new home in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Ercol 438 Round Dressing Table Mirror

This Ercol Model 438 dressing table mirror has a round adjustable mirror held by three wooden clips, supported on a slender elm stem and shaped circular base. Its freestanding design allows it to be positioned on a dressing table or chest of drawers. The mirror was refinished at our North Derbyshire workshop, bringing out the natural colour and grain of the elm. 1970s Ercol Model 458 Three Tier Trolley

This 1970s Ercol Model 458 three tier trolley has elm trays supported by turned beech uprights, with castors beneath the base. Each tier has a raised edge, and the open sides leave the shelves easily accessible. We refinished the trolley at our North Derbyshire workshop, bringing out the colour and grain of the timber. It was sold directly by Retro Cactus Furniture and delivered by us to its new home in Southill, Bedfordshire. 1950s Ercol Model 391 All-Purpose Windsor Chairs

Pair of Ercol 391 All-Purpose Windsor chairs with shaped elm seats, beech frames and spindle backs

We collected this pair of 1950s Ercol Model 391 All-Purpose Windsor chairs in Hanham, Bristol, before bringing them to our North Derbyshire workshop for refinishing. The chairs have shaped elm seats with distinct grain patterns, supported by beech frames. Slender back spindles meet curved top rails, while stretchers connect the splayed legs beneath each seat. Once refinished, we delivered the pair to their new home in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. Our photographs record the chairs from the front, rear and above, alongside closer views of the seats and backrests.

This Ercol Model 455 Sideboard dates from the 1960s and is made from solid English elm. The design features two end cupboards, three central drawers and distinctive recessed oval handles sculpted into the solid wood. The Model 455 identification is confirmed by Ercol’s 1965 brochure, where the sideboard is described with two end cupboards, three central drawers, recessed oval handles and a sliding cutlery tray in the top drawer. The original collection location is no longer recorded. This example was professionally refinished at the Retro Cactus Furniture workshop in North Derbyshire. It was later sold by Retro Cactus Furniture and personally delivered to its new home in Sandiway, Cheshire. This set of four Ercol Model 333 Small Chairs dates from the 1950s. The design appears in Ercol’s 1956 catalogue, where Model 333 is described as the Small Chair. Its distinctive construction includes an unusually thick solid elm seat, deeply shaped for comfort, with the curved back and rails made in beech. The chairs were collected from Kidderminster, Worcestershire and brought to the Retro Cactus Furniture workshop in North Derbyshire, where the set was refinished while retaining the character of the original elm and beech. The design has a tall spindle back, shaped top rail and sculpted solid elm seat, with the frame and spindles made in beech. The chairs were refinished at the Retro Cactus Furniture workshop in North Derbyshire. The complete set of four was later sold through Vinterior and delivered to Hackney, London. This Ercol Model 369A Goldsmith’s Windsor Dining Armchair dates from the 1950s and formed part of a matching dining set with three Model 369 Goldsmith’s Windsor Dining Chairs. Ercol identifies the 369A in its 1956 catalogue as the Goldsmith’s Windsor Dining Armchair. The design combines a tall spindle back and shaped top rail with curved arms, a sculpted solid elm seat and a beech frame. The armchair was refinished at the Retro Cactus Furniture workshop in North Derbyshire together with the matching chairs. The complete set was later sold through Vinterior and delivered to Hackney, London. These photographs show the actual Model 369A armchair handled and refinished by Retro Cactus Furniture.

They were in excellent original condition and were refurbished by Retro Cactus Furniture at the North Derbyshire workshop, retaining their original character and finish. We collected this 1970s Ercol Model 384 round drop-leaf dining table in Brentwood and brought it to our Derbyshire workshop for refinishing. Its solid English elm top has striking, swirling grain, set against the black beech legs. The two leaves fold down to reduce the table’s footprint when it is not needed at its full size. With both leaves raised, the rounded top provides a generous dining surface. The table sold via Vinterior and travelled to its new home in SE London.

Ercol Model 361 Trolley Bookcase

This 1960s Ercol Model 361 trolley bookcase was collected in Derby before coming to our Derbyshire workshop for professional refinishing. Made from solid English elm and beech, the Model 361 combines three open levels of storage with Ercol's distinctive rounded forms and slender supports. The original design runs on ball castors, allowing the bookcase to be moved easily while retaining its light and open appearance. The piece was professionally refinished in our workshop, bringing out the natural colour and distinctive grain of the elm while retaining its original Ercol character. Once completed, the trolley bookcase was sold through Pamono and began a much longer journey, travelling from our Derbyshire workshop across the Atlantic to its new home in Minneapolis, USA.

Ercol Model 518 Windsor Bureau Writing Desk

This 1960s Ercol Model 518 Windsor bureau writing desk was collected in Diss, Norfolk before coming to our Derbyshire workshop for professional refinishing. Made from solid English elm with a contrasting beech underframe, the bureau features a fall-front writing surface, fitted interior with pigeonholes and storage, a full-width drawer and its original key. The distinctive curved underframe is characteristic of Ercol's Windsor furniture from this period. After refinishing, the natural colour and grain of the elm were brought back to life while retaining the original character of the piece. The bureau was sold through Pamono and then travelled from our Derbyshire workshop across Europe to its new home in Vienna, Austria. Dimensions: 81 cm wide × 45 cm deep × 103.5 cm high. Writing surface height: 71 cm.

Ercol Model 735 Pandora’s Box Coffee Table

We collected this Ercol Model 735 Pandora’s Box coffee table in Neath, South Wales. Its two drawers, open sides and English elm grain make it a distinctive piece. After refinishing it in our Derbyshire workshop, we arranged delivery to its new home in Gozo, Malta, through a specialist shipper.

Ercol Model 485 Cheval Mirror with Drawer

This 1960s Ercol Model 485 Windsor cheval mirror was collected in Thurcroft, South Yorkshire, and refinished at our North Derbyshire workshop. Made from solid English elm and beech, it has an adjustable full-length mirror above a single drawer, with castors beneath the base. Our photographs show the shaped drawer pulls, open drawer, wood grain and underside of the base. Sold by Retro Cactus Furniture, it was shipped to its new home in Gozo, Malta by a specialist shipper.

Ercol Tall Sideboard

We collected this 1960s Ercol tall sideboard on Tyneside and brought it to our Derbyshire workshop for refinishing. The cabinet has richly figured English elm, with a sculptural beech underframe. Its three cupboard doors and lower drawers provide practical storage; the fitted cutlery trays are a particularly useful detail. We carefully refinished the piece while preserving the character of its original design. Once complete, we delivered the sideboard to its new home in Bellême, Normandy, France. It is recorded here as part of the Retro Cactus Furniture archive of Ercol pieces we have handled, refinished and delivered.

Ercol Model 876 Swan Back Dining Chairs

These four Ercol Model 876 Swan Back dining chairs were collected in Eastbourne, East Sussex. Dating from the 1990s, they were made from elm and beech and retained Ercol’s original darker finish. Their tall Windsor-style backs feature the distinctive carved swan motif, while the shaped elm seats display the natural grain. The chairs arrived in excellent original condition and did not require refinishing. They were carefully inspected and prepared for resale at our Derbyshire workshop, preserving their original finish and removable seat cushions. Sold through Pamono, the set was delivered to its new home in Lehrte, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Ercol Model 355 Day Bed / Studio Couch

Collected in South Wales, this 1960s Ercol Model 355 Studio Couch retained its distinctive curved arms, spindle sides and removable backrest. Made from English elm and beech, the design can be used as both a sofa and an occasional day bed. We carefully refinished the timber in our Derbyshire workshop to reveal its natural colour and grain. The couch was professionally reupholstered with new Pirelli webbing and specially shaped reversible cushions in a blue patterned fabric. Once completed, it was sold directly by Retro Cactus and delivered to its new home in Lancieux, Brittany, France.

Ercol Model 513 Refectory Dining Table

We collected this rare 1960s Ercol Model 513 refectory dining table locally in Matlock, Derbyshire. Its sculptural curved beech frame supports a beautifully figured solid English elm top, giving the table a light yet substantial presence. We carefully refinished the table to reveal the natural colour, grain and contrast of the two timbers while preserving its original character. Once completed, we personally delivered it from our Derbyshire workshop to its new home in Zug, Switzerland.

Chippy Heath Telephone Bench

This distinctive 1950s telephone bench was made by British furniture manufacturer Chippy Heath. The piece was collected in Lincoln before coming to our Derbyshire workshop. Made from beech and elm, it features a curved spindle back, shaped wooden seat, sweeping arms and a traditional stretcher frame. Its compact proportions make it an unusual and characterful example of British mid-century furniture. We carefully refinished the bench to reveal the natural colour and grain of the timber while preserving its original form and character. Once completed, it travelled to its new home in Suzzara, northern Italy.

Identified as Ercol Model 482, this dressing table appears in Ercol's 1965 furniture brochure. This example was collected in Newcastle upon Tyne before coming to our Derbyshire workshop. Made from solid elm and beech, it retains its adjustable wood-framed mirror, sculpted recessed drawer handles and practical sliding glass shelves within the end drawers. We carefully refinished the piece to reveal the natural colour and grain of the timber while preserving its original form and character. Once completed, we personally delivered the dressing table to its new home in Oban, Scotland.

Troeds Long Teak Sideboard

This 1960s Troeds long teak sideboard was collected in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, before being professionally refurbished at the Retro Cactus Furniture workshop in North Derbyshire. New V-shaped metal hairpin legs were fitted during the refurbishment. It was later sold through Pamono and delivered to Latina, Lazio, Italy.

Uniflex Range A Dressing Table

This Uniflex Range A dressing table dates from the 1970s and features a large three-part mirror, twin pedestal drawer units, a central drawer and a kneehole. The design combines teak with darker walnut veneer and distinctive pale drawer handles. This example was collected in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, before being professionally refinished at the Retro Cactus Furniture workshop in North Derbyshire. It was later sold via Pamono and delivered to its new home in Metairie, Louisiana, USA. The original Uniflex maker’s mark remains present and has been photographed as part of this archive record. The exact factory model number has not yet been confirmed.

Ercol Model 946 Dorchester Extending Dining Table

This Ercol Model 946 Dorchester Extending Dining Table dates from the 1990s. It has an English elm top on a solid beech underframe and three extension leaves stored within the table, giving four usable lengths. On this example the tabletop was professionally refinished while the underframe retained its existing finish. The Model 946 identification is supported by Ercol’s 1993 catalogue. This archive example was delivered and personally set up in Saffron Walden, Essex. The illustrated journey begins at the Retro Cactus workshop rather than showing a collection point.
