This Ercol Model 492 Drop-Leaf Dining Table dates from the 1960s and is made from English elm and solid beech. The design features a compact rectangular centre section with two hinged drop leaves, allowing the table to be reduced in size when not in use and opened out for dining.
This example was collected from Folkestone, Kent, before being professionally refinished at the Retro Cactus Furniture workshop in North Derbyshire.
It was later sold via Pamono and delivered to its new home in Linz, Austria. The Model 492 identification is supported by Ercol’s 1965 brochure, where the design is listed as a drop-leaf dining table.
