Our Approach to Furniture Restoration

How we carefully restore and refinish the vintage furniture we sell.

What types of vintage furniture do you restore?

We restore selected vintage Ercol and mid-century pieces for our collection, including dining tables, chairs, sideboards, daybeds and furniture by makers such as Alfred Cox. Each piece is carefully refinished with respect for its original design, timber and character.

How are your Ercol dining tables refinished?

Each dining table is individually assessed, whether it is made from solid wood or finished with wood veneer. Where appropriate, surfaces are carefully refinished to enhance the natural grain while preserving the furniture’s original character.

How do you restore damaged furniture veneer?

Where appropriate, we carefully repair lifting or damaged veneer, retaining as much original material as possible. Our aim is a sympathetic repair that respects the furniture’s character, craftsmanship and age.

How do you choose the right finish for vintage furniture?

The right finish depends on the timber, the original design and the condition of the piece. We choose finishes that enhance the natural grain, complement its period character and provide lasting protection without losing its authenticity.

Will restoration change the character of vintage furniture?

Good restoration should respect what makes a piece special. We carefully preserve original features, timber grain and design details while improving tired finishes, addressing damage and bringing the furniture back to its best.
