The tabletop was carefully refinished to bring out the warmth and character of the English elm while protecting the surface for continued use. Both leaves fold down easily, allowing the table to take up less space when it is not required at full size.
 
The age-related hinge marks and small original filler mark remain visible and are shown clearly in the photographs.
